Nuclear Waste

In this chapter in They Say I Say called Nuclear Waste, Richard A. Muller talks about the plan to store nuclear waste. There is already a plan to store nuclear waste in the Yucca mountains but Muller says we already have more nuclear waste than that spot could fit. He says he does not know why people think it is dangerous to store the nuclear waste there. He explains that it is more dangerous to leave the waste untouched because we could most of our Nuclear power from the Colorado area and that can leak into the water supply in the Colorado River. This is pretty crazy stuff because for 100,000 years nuclear waste is still toxic. He points out that 10,000 years ago humans had barley discovered agriculture. We do not know what the future holds so how can we plan that far ahead. Whatever ends up happening I just hope they make the right decision this nuclear waste is no joke.

  1. You know, it's crazy that we don't normally think about things that happen in our lives such as radioactivity. It is neither a topic I can speak too much about because I'm not very good with science. Anyway, I feel like storing the waste is a good thing. What if sending it out of this world caused greater damages to our world like maybe a failed attempt. I don't know if we have much of a choice but to store it.
